Environment, sea & plastic. Every year 4.8 to 12.7 million tons of plastic end up in the sea.
The seas are full of plastic and microplastics. What effect does this have?
It can take hundreds/thousands of years for plastic to completely decompose. An ever-growing problem for people, animals and the environment, because everything is in flux, everything is a cycle. For all of us. So what can we do? In what kind of world do we want to live in?

Plastic can take hundreds/thousands of years to completely decompose.
What we (want to) see is usually just the surface.
We fly to vacation spots - to paradise, to escape from everyday life, we see a clean ocean that we enjoy so much and what it gives to us, and the animals that live in this endless blue.
But underneath this surface it usually doesn't look so heavenly anymore, because microplastics are floating there. The sea is full of microplastics, which are often washed into the sea via rivers.
These are remnants of rubbish such as lost snorkel sets, straws, cigarette butts, disposable plastic or other more or less innocently, (un)intentionally thrown away everyday items.
These tiny particles are eaten by fishes and make them sick. Sooner or later this ends up back on our plates and that in turn endangers our health.
We want to continue to enjoy these treasures that life and the ocean give us. The answer, without hesitation, is “yes.” Why do we destroy without thinking?
So what can we do? In what kind of world do we want to live in?
Get involved! Think about tomorrow too. Be the change! September 17th is World Cleanup Day. Many people come together on this day to do something for the environment, to clean and tidy up nature together. You can't just use this day as an opportunity to do something for our environment. Take a look around to your surroundings, what might you notice?
For example, I notice that there are things that have been innocently thrown away on my bike route. That doesn't have to be the case. Just think about it. You don't have to innocently throw the cola can or the fast food wrapper out the window after your disco visits. Disposing of it at home is half the battle.
There's something else you can do, for example: maybe reconsider your consumption.
For example, I went shopping a few days ago. As an artist, I just love making creative things.
So I went shopping, to buy some things, the basket was full again because I was really happy about creating beautiful things again. But in a moment I was wide awake and thought to myself: "Gosh, what are you doing? There are things in your shopping cart that are less great for the environment and our continued coexistence on our planet, as they are probably difficult to break down. " I looked around and the store is at least 70% full of items that are mostly harmful or a burden on our future, such as plastic or items that are very, very cheap and therefore far away from fair production and remuneration. Of course things are inexpensive and yes, we want to watch our wallets and even have to, but we still want to live well. So how can we make a difference?
But in that moment I just realized what`s right and what´s wrong and how I would like to live in the future and how I don´t want. So the question arises: "How can we make a difference when we currently lack the financial resources in everyday life and have to pay attention to the budget?"
You can help and start making changes for yourself. So when you go shopping for your daily lifestyle, you can ask yourself these questions:
Am I living in an environmentally friendly way?
What can I change? What can I change for everyday needs?
Which places in my area are littered and what is stopping me from cleaning up there?
How do I contribute to keeping up the environment a little cleaner?
