Selected poems and quotes about love, friendship, life & miscellaneous:

Books are wonderful. You dive into a world full of unknown dimensions. Into the abysses of the human soul or into the wonderful world of fantasy, into the past, into history, into the future. You can learn from them about yourself, life, or just because you have to.

To be honest, I still like the classic book best. You feel the print, the paper, the cover, the smell.

All of this has something to tell about those who thought about leaving something for posterity. I've never tried it with an e-reader, even though I find it very practical and space-saving these days. But think about it, you're sitting in the subway and you don't have anything on your mind and you look around and you see people reading and you see the title of the book, you read along yourself and sometimes you can read people's faces what they are feeling. And then you think "oh cool, maybe I'll buy that too" or "what a fat ham, you could kill someone with that" ; Of course you don't have that with e-readers.

Sometimes I think to myself, "wow, I'm really stressed out right now or I just want to switch off and not think anything" and people can still switch off despite all the noise around them... what an art - resilience is what they call it these days . I wish I could do that too...

Think Different

Steve Jobs

Here’s to the crazy ones:

The misfits,

The rebels,

The troublemakers,

The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently.

They’re not fond of rules.

And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can quote them,

disagree with them,

glorify or vilify them.

But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.

Because they change things.

They push the human race forward.

And while some may see them as the crazy ones, We see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world,

Are the ones who do.

From Friendship

Khalil Gibran

Your friend is the answer to your needs

He is the field that you sow with love

and reaps with gratitude.

And he is your table and hearth.

Because you come to him with your hunger,

and you seek your peace in him.

When your friend speaks frankly

do you not fear the "no" in your thoughts,

nor do you hold back with the "yes".

And if he is silent

don't your heart stop

to listen to his;

Because in friendship will be

all thoughts, all desires, all expectations

born and shared without words,

with joy that needs no applause.

When you walk away from your friend, you don't grieve:

Because what you love most about him

is perhaps clearer in his absence,

how the mountain appears clearer to the climber from the plain.

And friendship shall have no other purpose,

than to deepen the mind.

And let your best be for your friend.

If he must know the ebb of your tide,

let him also know the flood.

For what is a friend if you only seek him out

to kill the hours?

Visit him to experience the hours with him.

Because he is there to meet your needs

but not to fill your emptiness.

And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter

and shared joy.

Because in the dew of little things

the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

From Love II

Khalil Gibran

If a man's hand

touches a woman's hand

touch each other for all eternity.

No hope is elusive as long as there's a fool to fight for it.

(Jack Sparrow)

Nothing is more helpful than a challenge to bring out the best in someone.

(Sean Connery)

Once you have found yourself, you have nothing left to lose in this world.

(Stefan Zweig)

From Love

Khalil Gibran

If love beckons you, follow her, her paths are also difficult and steep.

And when her wings envelop you, surrender to her

Even if the sword hidden under the feathers can wound you.

And when she speaks to you, believe in her

even if her voice can shatter your dreams

as the north wind ravages the garden.

Because just as love crowns you, it crucifies you.

As it grows you, it prunes you.

As she ascends to your heights

and caresses the tenderest branches that tremble in the sun,

she descends to your roots

and shakes her in her earthboundness.

She gathers you around her like sheaves of corn.

She thrashes you to get you naked.

She sifts you to free you from your chaff.

She grinds you until you're white.

She kneads you until you are supple;

And then she dedicates you to her holy fire,

so that you may become holy bread for God's holy meal.

All this love will do to you

so that you can learn the secrets of your heart

and in this knowledge become a part of the heart of life.

But if in your fear you only seek the calm and the joy of love,

then it is better for you to cover your nakedness

and walk from love's threshing floor.

To the world without seasons

where you will laugh, but not all your laughter,

and cry, but not all your tears.

Love gives nothing but itself and takes nothing but from itself.

Love possesses neither nor is it possessed;

Because love is enough for love.

And don't think you can direct the course of love

for love, if it deems you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire than to be fulfilled.

But if you love and must have desires, you should desire this:

To melt and be like a babbling brook

who sings his melody of the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by one's understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake up at dawn with a winged heart

and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at noon and contemplate love's rapture;

To return home in the evening with gratitude;

And then fall asleep

with a prayer for the beloved in the heart

and a song of praise on their lips.

Beauty

Khalil Gibran

facial features that reveal the secrets of our soul,

give beauty and grace to the face,

even if these mental mysteries are painful and painful.

Faces, on the other hand, which - like masks - conceal what is going on inside them,

are devoid of any beauty, even if their external forms are perfectly symmetrical and harmonious.

Just like glasses only attract our lips,

when the color of the wine shimmers through the precious crystal.

The Beauty is a secret

Khalil Gibran

The beauty is a mystery

that our mind understands

where he refreshes himself

and under his impression

he can unfold.

Khalil Gibran

born: in Bsharri, Libanon - died: in New York City Lebanese painter, philosopher and poet.

The poet published timeless truths that reflect his unerring understanding of people's spiritual needs, texts full of wisdom and depth.

Beauty should begin in the Heart and Soul

otherwise Cosmetics are useless.

Coco Chanel

Beauty is how you feel inside.

And it reflects in your eyes.

It´s not something physical.

Sophia Loren

It's not about being right.

It's about being successful.

I don't mind being wrong and I admit to being wrong often.

I don't really mind.

I want us to do the right thing.

Steve Jobs

Sometimes life hits you like a brick.

Don't lose faith.

Steve Jobs
