Kitesurfing, sailing, swimming - the Niederlausitzer Lake District recreation area and the district and university town of Senftenberg attract visitors not only in summer but also in winter with numerous attractions and a stunning landscape.

The recreation area is always worth a visit, not just on weekends.

Kitesurfing, sailing, swimming - the local recreation area of the Lausitzer Seenland, the district area around and the university town of Senftenberg attract visitors not only in summer but also in winter with numerous attractions and a wonderful landscape.
The old town city centre of Senftenberg with its post column suggests that numerous nobles and knights probably visited the town in the 17th century. Old houses between Bauhaus and Renaissance along the market square, surrounded by numerous modern and traditionally designed shops such as the "Eine Welt Laden", the "Kaffee Rösterei" with freshly roasted coffee, the historic restaurant "Das Hubertus", the cozy and inviting restaurant "Die Drogerie" invite you to a romantic stroll in summer and winter. Take a walk along down to another cozy restaurant called "Dreams", where you have tasty vitnamese food with fresh vegetable and meat food options.
Enjoy window shopping and front views of many of these old houses in the city centre.
No matter which way you go - facades and sidewalks tell of ancient history. Discover Stolpersteine, the old knight's castle from the 16th century with its museum and fortifications, which attracts many from near and far in the summer season. Highlights of the city are the cultural summer in the castle with constantly changing art exhibitions, music, films and the re-enactment of a historical show battle between Saxonions and Brandenburgers including cannon beat are hightlights. Other highlights are a traditional Christmas market in the castle or in the town center or the night watchman's tour through the city,
The harbor festival with numerous musical highlights such as Alexander Knappe and many more.
In Großkoschen you will discover the amphitheatre with concerts such as Götz Alsmann, Helge Schneider, the family park with camping options attracts many visitors in Senftenberg for several days in the summer. Children also get their money's worth on the huge water slide. Play volleyball or have a barbecue with your family in specially designated areas.
Walk along the Black Elster river either directly to the zoo or in the opposite direction up to Kleinkoschen. Treat yourself well with a selfmade snack, coffee and a piccolo proseecco with a fantastic view over the entire 28km long Senftenberg Lake or cycle all the way around.

By bike, boat or car - explore other lakes and viewpoints in the local recreation area such as Geierswalder Lake where you can go jet skiing. Visit the "Rusty Nail", the lighthouse which has a restaurant inside and with its adjacent Scandinavian-style overnight accommodation. Visit Großräschen with it´s exhibition in the Art-Faker-Museum or the IBA Terraces. A detour to the historic Dörrwalder Mill is also worthwhile, where you can enjoy coffee and cake and discover evidence of old bakery craftsmanship.
Enjoy a panoramic view of the protected lake landscape from the tower of Senftenberg Lake. Weather permitting, you can see the Kamenz and Lauta rivers.
Numerous options offer space for a swim or snacks, as well as barbecue stations.


Water sports enthusiasts, campers and anglers also get their money's worth in these beautiful Lake District Area. Enjoy hours of sunshine along the Lake Districts.
In Niemtsch and in the Großkoschen family park you can relax on the large campsite or take advantage of the water sports options such as pedal boating, rent a boat and surfboard from the water sports school in Niemtsch.
